Goal(s)

The aim of the EPS cycle in the first year is twofold: to acquire skills specific to the activity while at the same time working on the managerial skills that will enable the student engineer to acquire or become familiar with the tools that will serve him in his future profession.
The aim is to learn how to manage new, often complex situations that can be risky and/or stressful, by taking an active or practical role in the proposed sequences.
Soft skills such as cooperating, verbalising, working in a group, persevering, analysing, surpassing oneself, resisting, anticipating, identifying, solving problems alone and in a group will be tackled and presented in the practice of the activity which may be individual or collective depending on the support activity chosen by the engineering student at the beginning of the year.
In addition to these aspects, the aim is to integrate physical exercise into a balanced lifestyle, as part of a strategy for well-being, health and integration.

Content(s)

Using a sporting activity as a teaching tool, the student will be given a sequence to carry out in which a formative assessment will enable them to make progress in communication, leadership, motivation and teamwork. The group will be asked to identify various problems: motor, managerial and will propose solutions and remedies.
These solutions will be tested in the field throughout the cycle, to ensure that progress is visible and deliverable.
So, more than the notion of technical level in the activity, it is really the student's ability to analyse his managerial practice and his behaviour that will guide the interventions.

Depending on the group in which the student is placed, and taking into account the intercultural aspects of having foreign students, he or she may be required to follow or carry out the course in English or French.
