Goal(s)

Geophysical prospecting uses the laws of physics to obtain information on the structure of the subsoil. The course aims to provide students with the basics of geophysical prospecting for the recognition of surface structures (up to 100 m deep). After a general introduction and training in signal processing concepts, the course reviews the main methods used in geotechnics: seismic refraction, electrical methods, gravimetry, magnetism and electro-magnetic methods.
Emphasis is placed on understanding the advantages and limitations of geophysical prospecting methods and the recognition strategy to be implemented in conjunction with geotechnical techniques and geological data
