Content(s)

The course is organised around a lecture and two group-based sessions designed to support students in preparing a scientific pitch in English as part of their research and innovation project.

The lecture develops the core principles of oral scientific communication in English, including pitch structuring, adaptation to non-specialist audiences, clarity of expression, use of appropriate scientific language, and best practices for oral presentations in academic and professional contexts. It also covers key strategies for effective communication in group settings.

The first group session focuses on the development of communication strategies. Students work on structuring their message, popularising their research topic, and ensuring coherence and relevance with respect to their intended audience.

The second session is dedicated to the quality of both visual and linguistic communication. Students are guided in the design of a clear, concise, and non-academic PowerPoint presentation suitable for an oral pitch, as well as in ensuring accuracy in scientific English and translation.

Throughout the course, ongoing guidance is provided to support students in managing time constraints, structuring their presentations effectively, and successfully delivering their final pitch.
