Goal(s)
This course covers the basics of digital image processing, from acquisition to representation, coding and use of the image for a given application.
Content(s)
- Defining a digital image: knowing how to acquire, define resolution and the number of grey levels or colours. Understanding the different colour spaces. Fourier representation of a digital image.
- 2D linear digital filtering: Processing digital images to enhance and restore an image.
- Non-linear image filtering: Order filters, morphological filters.
- Region and contour segmentation: Extracting information from an image (shapes, measurements, decisions, etc.)
- Texture analysis.
- Video: understanding the detection and estimation of object movement in a sequence of images.
- Compression: reducing the amount of information needed to read images and videos properly
