Goal(s)
Master the fundamental principles of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Drafting (CAD) using SolidWorks.
Learn to create 3D models and technical drawings of mechanical parts and assemblies.
Acquire practical skills in parametric modeling, creating features, and using advanced design tools.
Understand techniques for dimensioning, annotation, and drawing layout for communicating technical designs.
Content(s)
Introduction to SolidWorks and the workspace environment.
Creating 2D sketches and using drawing tools to create basic geometries.
3D modeling using parametric features such as extrusion, revolve, fillet, etc.
Designing assemblies using assembly constraints and standard components.
Creating technical drawings with plan views, elevations, sections, and exploded views.
Adding dimensions, annotations, and tables for technical documentation.
Completion of a practical project where students will design and model a complete mechanical product, produce detailed drawings and assemblies, and present their work professionally.
