Goal(s)

MGP:
This course is an introduction to the different engineering fields present at Polytech - Grenoble. It is divided into CM, TD and TP which are divided into three main themes: Materials, Geotechnics and Risk Prevention. CMs and TDs focus on concrete (a material widely used in civil engineering). This part is intended to provide an in-depth knowledge of the constituents, composition and formulation of concrete. The properties, appearance, control and durability of concrete are also highlighted. In parallel with the dissemination of this knowledge, a short introduction on reinforced concrete is presented in this course. As an application on concrete properties, a simple compression test on concrete samples is performed in the laboratory. In a second place, students discover, in this course, the different stages of the life cycle of a concrete structure and make a discovery project as an application on a concrete structure already built.

The pedagogical objective of this teaching is to give students the basics of computer and electronic tools allowing them to measure the physical world, to visualize these measurements and to cross-reference them with other sources of information and to (re)act on the physical object studied. This teaching will focus on an integrative project that will develop interdisciplinary skills in electronics, physics and computer science, while also introducing project management and valorisation. This means that students will design and manufacture or even customize parts and extensions using CNC machines such as 3D printers.
